So we’ve been a bit quiet on the guest mix front this past month – I blame the heat, or lack thereof. Anyways, we’re fixing it right up by giving you a guest mix from H-SIK right before June finishes. H-SIK is a friend of a friend (namely Moresounds) who’s based in the Netherlands but originates from the Ivory Coast. Together they’re part of the Shtrak collective and make rowdy fun music to have fun to. Don’t believe us? Listen to H-SIK’s new EP Cocody which has just been released by our friends over at Error Broadcast – it’s all rowdy fun.
As is the norm, once we got chatting to H-SIK via the wonders of the intermanets we asked him for a mix. Things slipped, thankfully it happened and here it is, Cultural Capital – 40 mins of tunes to make you dance in your chair, under the sun, next to a tree or in your head while riding the bus. Featuring a bunch of people we quite like – Addison Groove, Cosmic Bridge heads like Danny Scrilla, Moresounds and Om Unit, Machinedrum, Illum Sphere, OL, RL Grime and more.

”Dropping July 2nd on Error Broadcast, here’s a track we’re premiering from the upcoming H-SIK EP, Cocody.
Originating from the Ivory Coast, French music producer H-SIK combines elements of African music and hip hop with the jittery and relentless rhythms of footwork. He executes this infusion with some pretty textured sounds to. Hand drums, acoustic guitar, sequenced drums, obese synths, are pitch-shifted vocal samples are all at work on the track “Gallerry.” Actually, to be honest, there’s just too many sounds to be named in this dang track. There’s a point where a track becomes so densely layered, listening to it really makes one chew over what’s happening. That’s the beauty H-SIK brings to the table, reminding me a bit of Africa Hitech in his production style, but ultimately feels like a different approach.”
